WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Public International Law : This course aims at giving the students of LL.B a basic understanding of general principles of International Law, like Recognition of states and governments, Treaties, State Responsibility, International Law and Human Rights, Humanitarian Law & International Institutions etc. Heavy reliance is made on the relevant case Law, with a view to improve the student's skills of legal analysis.
- Comparative Constitutional Law :
- This course consists of two foreign Constitutions i.e. The Constitution of Britain and the Constitution of United States. The Constitution of Pakistan of 1973 is a parliamentary Constitution but subsequent amendments have some what altered its structure by reserving powers for the President. Thus making the Constitution an amalgam of both Parliamentary and Presidential principles. As a result a growing number of people in Pakistan today believe that, as the structure of Pakistan and the United States is similar (Federal), the Presidential system may suit Pakistan better. As such the students in there first year of legal studies are exposed to these foreign Constitutions so as to equip them with basic understanding of principles lying at the root of both those systems of governance.
- International Humanitarian Law: This course focuses on the historical developments in the area of the Laws of War prior to the WWII. That is followed by a detailed analysis of the 4 Geneva Conventions of 1949 and the Additional Protocols of 1977.Students are taken through case studies in order to acquaint them with the practical application of the Geneva Law.Various other weapons regimes are also looked into in this course.
- International Refugee Law : Pakistan houses the largest Refugee population in the world and has done so for 28 years now. The refugee Law course is designed to give students an understanding of the Refugee Convention of 1951. Principles of the Refugee Convention are taught to the students with the help of real life case studies stemming from the Afghan refugee population in Pakistan .
